The 22nd annual Blessing of the bikes & ATV's event was a success with over 400 bikes stopping in Hillman to be blessed.

We would like to thank the sponsors and those who donated gifts for the event. We would also like to thank everyone who volunteered their time to make the event a success.

March 8th - Business After Hours

The March 8th after Hours was sponsored by VitalCare - Hospice of the Sunrise Shore.

It was an interesting evening with discussion about Hospice, the numerous services that are available through Hospice of the Sunrise Shore and VitalCare and the various good things they are doing. They have a vision for a future hospice home in Alpena or Montmorency county to join VitalCare's already existing Hospice Houses in Petoskey & Cheboygan. Anyone interested in sponsoring them or assisting to fulfill their vision, please contact 989 742-2605.

May 19th - Highway Cleanup

Mark and Lorraine from the Hillman Area Chamber of Commerce picked up trash on the side of the highway May 19th in preparation for the Blessing of the Bikes & ATV's event.

JULY 2016

Circus - July 3

Hillman will be having a circus on July 3rd at the Hillman Elementary football field.

Times will be 2:00 pm and also at 4:30 pm.

Advance ticket prices are $10 for an adult and $7 for a child or senior.

At the door prices are $13 per adult and $8 per child or senior.

No charge for children under 2 years.

We hope everyone will come and bring their kids and family.

The Village of Hillman kicked off the month of July with plenty of arts and crafts, music, cars and entertainment for all ages. What initially started as a fundraiser for the Brush Creek Mill ten years ago has since become an annual community-wide event.

JUNE 2016

Skeeter the Advance Clown

Skeeter the Advance Clown is scheduled to be in Hillman on Wednesday June 22 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Her schedule is below.

      Hillman Library - 1:00 - 2:00

      Medi Lodge - 2:00 - 3:00

      Radio Interview - 3:00 - 3:30

Skeeter's 20 minute assembly program is entertaining, but educational as well. She "teaches" the students in a fun way. Skeeter incorporates History, Math, Spanish, American Sign Language, Listening, Following directions and Cooperation. She will ask for a few volunteers to help her on stage, and she will also do a little slight-of-hand magic.

Chamber Banquet Turnout - October 21, 2015

We has a good turnout at the annual Chamber banquet with approximately 80 people attending. We had a 1/3 front page article in the Alpena newspaper and also an article in the Montmorency County Tribune.

We would like to thank A-1 Party Store, the VFW, Patchwood Plaza, Zimmer's Corner Cafe, all the businesses who donated the prizes, and all the board members for their donation to the event.

The banquet was catered by Lisa Zimmer from Zimmer's Corner Cafe

The June 9 Business After Hours was a success with 40 people attending.  People got to mingle with other businessmen, bankers, public officials, and accountants.  We even more people will attend the next one.

Cyber Security Class - July 30 2015


The cyber security class was presented on July 30th by Michelle Thren from Chemical Bank. The class learned about different types of threats out there due to our life in the digital age and how to better protect ourselves from fraud and scams. If you didn't attend the class, you really missed out on a lot of good information.  

Lumber Grading Class
We has a successful grading class September 21-25, 2015 at Patchwood Plaza and now 15 more people are qualified and have a certificate to do wood grading. A fine lunch was presented by Zimmers Corner Cafe.

December 8th 2015 - Business After Hours

The A-1 Party Store sponsored the December 8th Business After Hours.

It was held  at the New Radio station (1201 West 2nd Hillman)

State Representative Triston Cole

On Saturday Nov 4, State Representative Triston Cole was at Patchwood Plaza from 3:30-4:30 PM  to make himself available to meet with the public and answer any question anyone may have had.

The buck poke is selling donation tickets for $1 or more to help with the operating costs of the pole. You can purchase a ticket and show your support for the buck pole at the following locations:

Crosswalk News

Winter is upon us, please keep a close eye out for children using the crosswalk.  Talk with your children, grandchildren, and other family members and tell them to cross at the crosswalk, even when the crossing guard is not in season as drivers are more aware of children at the crosswalk.

Reminder: Children will be using the crosswalk
7:30 am. - 8:00 am.
and 3:15 pm. - 3:45 pm.  Monday - Friday.

My Town Hillman

On July 15th, Hits FM held their morning show at Jacques Family Restaurant.

"My Town" is a weekly series aired throughout the summer and will feature a different town each week. The week of July 13th we will spend the week talking about Hillman! We will highlight historical aspects, special events, organizations and businesses. We will interview knowledgeable historians, the Mayor, the Chamber of Commerce and help promote "Where to Go and What to Do" while in town!
